Mr. Nicol Best is a distinguished professional in the field of Metrology and Quality Management. With over 18 years of comprehensive experience in Metrology, Product Testing, and Quality Management Systems, including expertise in ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 15189, and ISO 14001. Mr. Best is currently the Technical Officer-Metrology at the CARICOM Regional Organization for Standards and Quality.
Mr. Best visited the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Bureau of Standards from April 2nd to 5th, 2024 to provide technical assistance to enhance the capabilities of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Bureau of Standards’ Metrology Unit in Industrial and Legal Metrology.
The mission aimed to assess current practices, enhance laboratory capabilities, strengthen quality management, conduct market needs assessment, and develop a Metrology Strategy aligned with national and global best practices.
Key Objectives:
1. Evaluate current metrological practices and resources.
2. Enhance laboratory capabilities through asset improvement and technology upgrades.
3. Strengthen the Laboratory Quality Management System.
4. Conduct site visits and stakeholder interviews to understand national metrology needs.
5. Collaborate to design a draft Metrology Strategy for short, medium, and long-term goals.
Activities conducted included: site visits to metrology services stakeholders, stakeholder meetings, laboratory tours, quality management system reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
